Akishina Alla Aleksandrovna

Alla Alexandrovna Akishina is a philologist, linguist, and specialist in Russian studies. Holding a Candidate of Philological Sciences degree and the rank of professor, she is an expert in Russian verbal communication and the methodology of teaching Russian as a foreign language. She currently works in the Department of Russian Language at the Academy of Labor and Social Relations. Previously, she served as department chair at the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia (RUDN), the Pushkin State Russian Language Institute, and the Higher School of the Trade Union Movement in Moscow. She also serves as the Director of Language Programs in the Department of Slavic Languages ​​and Literatures at the University of Southern California. A professor and specialist in stylistics and the methodology of teaching Russian as a foreign language, her research interests include the theory and practice of language instruction for bilinguals, the development of principles for teaching intercultural communication, and instruction in professional communication.
